Real owner review of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Usage - 5 months +

Odometer - 7000KMs +

Completed nearly 7000 kms. After so many research I decided this car. Before choosing it, I drove Kwid 4 times, Tata Tiago 2 times, Celerio 2 times and WagonR 1 time, Hyundai i10 2 time and Spresso 3 times. As for engine is concerned Kwid and Tiago had unrefined engine. Vibrations could be easily felt in both ideal and during driving. Suzuki and Hyundai engines were far fetched than Tata and Renault engine. Suspension of kwid was really good. But the suspension of Suzuki and Hyundai were bit hard. The seating position of spresso was much better than all cars in this segment. Reliability of Suzuki K10b engine was also a major reason for choosing this car.

Few points I came across in last few months are below:

1. Comfort

Very comfortable for both short and long journeys. Even coved 645 kms in a single day didn't feel any discomfort. Seat position is very good. The high seating position makes driving effortless. No vibrations even at 100+ kmph. Front seat are so comfortable than rear one. You can feel some jerks in rough road at back seats.

2. Entertainment

The speaker are just enough if you try adjusting the setting as you prefer. But if you want a better audio experience should try upgrading to pioneer or harman audio system.

3. Milage

On average I get 21 kmpl combined. In city condition I do get about 18 kmpl and in highways about 23 kmpl at 80 to 90 kmph and 20 at 95 to 110 kmph with complete AC on.

4. Pick up

Pick up are awesome. Sometime you will feel like driving a mini Brezza or some big vehicle. For slight acceleration too a good response is there.

5. Off road

It's capable of handling off road to some extent. Not as like a 4x4 enabled SUV but some what better than a hatch back cars. Hill climbing was also better didn't struggle at any point.

6. Night drives

Light are positioned so properly that night drives are so easy. No need of upgrading light as stock bulbs are much better.

7. Looks and style

Suzuki were pioneer to launch micro SUVs like Ignis and Spress. It's front grills are derived from Brezza while the dimension are from old WagonR. The taillight and the back portion looks bit like swifts. It's a brand new design as compared to Kwid or Tiago as both are there in market for a very long time. But it's design is a kind of like it or hate it way. Dimensions are similar kwid, Tiago.

8. VXI (optional)

I went for dual air bag version (vxi optional). I believe that no car is safe until you drive safe. Even few big cars like Scorpio, Duster, Lodgy scored 0 in crash test with no air bags. Since the std version was tested the dual air bag crash test would vary a lot as in case of Duster and Tata Zest. Both cars scored 0 in NCAP without air bag on the other hand air bag version scored a descent rating. So safety rating of dual air bag version remains unknown.

9. Leg room

Ample leg room is available. Even 2 fat person and a lean one can sit at back seat comfortably. Front seat are very comfortable even for a continuous journey of 14 hours.

10. Need for improvement

Audio systems can be a bit better. Rear wiper options can be given. Electronic OVRM could be given. Also day/night IVRM could have been given. Rear power windows could be given. The cabin could be much better if it could have been made super silent inside. Sometimes could hear engine noise inside the cabin. Horn could have been better but there are alternative ways to install other horn from accessories shop without affecting warranty. Also extra fog lights could also be placed the same way. DRL could have been better designed.

Overall a very good vehicle. Can be called as Mini Brezza. Worthy for its price. Felt happy for choosing this car. Met with an accident too in turn was to replace the back door. The claim process was so easy and effortless. Since it is in free service the cost of service is not know. Maybe once free service are over will update it too.

This is my opinion about the vehicle. If you are planning to buy a vehicle test drive twice and decided as what car suits the best for you.
